Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that in 2015 the Ontario and Federal elections will be within days of each other? The Dalt introduced legislation back in 2005 fixing the election date as every four years in October from 2007 onward. Manitoba passed an act in 2008 with the same provision, every four years in October starting in 2011. Saskatchewan has a similar law starting off in November of 2011.
Barring the unforeseen Canada's next federal election will on October 19, 2015. Unless I'm doing the math wrong here - and again I am a history major - that means three provinces and the federal government will be holding overlapping elections in 2015. Has anyone thought this through? Or even mentioned it in passing? This is overload even for political junkies. How will this play into the alternating parties theory of government? That Ontario voters choose different parties to represent them federally and provincial.
Just a thought.
