Following the requests of many readers, and after many hours of ceaseless toil, we are today proud to announce to launch of the first GCH eBook: The Dominion of Snark: The Very Best of the Gods of the Copybook Headings.
Drawing upon the over 5000 posts that have been published at GCH over the last eight years, The Dominion of Snark stretches out over nearly 200,000 words and about 500 pages, depending on font and format. Organized by topical section - "Stephen Harper" or "Liberal Party - this eBook provides a ready reference to the GCH world view. Each topical section contains a collection of blog posts complete with links and the date of initial publication.
The Dominion of Snark is currently available through Amazon.com here. While optimized for the Kindle eReader format the eBook is easily readable on other tablet platforms including the iPad. You'll probably need to download a free Kindle app before purchasing the eBook. For those of you who prefer to read using an old fashioned laptop or desktop, I have spoken to "test" readers who were able to successfully download the book from Amazon without the benefit of newfangled tablets.
Based on tests over the last few days the downloading process should be quick and easy. The good people at Amazon.com should be able to sort through any technical issues that might arise. A quick note to the book's readers on Kindles and the Kindle App: The Table of Contents feature isn't always picked up by the eReader device. The "beginning" option will take you to the table of contents regardless.
The book is currently only available in electronic format, should enough readers specifically request a print edition arrangements can be made.
Tell me what you think of the book on the Amazon page, in the comments or via e-mail (link on the sidebar).
Amazon also makes gifting the book easy. Refer to the book's page for details.
This is to be the first in a series of books projected over the next few years. Having exchanged e-mails with several of my long-term readers the idea of an eBook as a "best of collection" was a recurring theme. A single ready reference that could be browsed and searched through at leisure.
Given the sheer volume of writing posted at this blog over the years the hardest part has been editing the content into a book format. The vast majority of blogs are short-lived and provide little original content. Neither description characterizes GCH. The eBook seeks to capture both the breadth of the blog's coverage but also it's changing style and focus. There's even a few laudatory posts about Stephen Harper. I'll let you guess the year they were published.
Without further ado: The Dominion of Snark

A great idea Richard. Congratulations!
It has just become the initial entry to my new eLibrary that you’ve launched me into. ... or for the blogosphere addicted : “This is a fine mess that you’ve gotten us into Ollie”.
I had been waffling about getting a Kindle but now that I’ve downloaded “ a free Kindle app before purchasing the eBook.....to read using an old fashioned laptop” I won’t need another gadget to cart around.
Now that you’ve circumvented the establishment to set yourself up as a Canadian History eProf, I hope you don’t tenure yourself and get complacent.

An interesting idea, I love the cover! Unfortunatley I shall not get it as I cannot abide e-books, I hope there is enough demand for a print version!
