Five of the ten First World War battle honours on the colours of the 48th Highlanders (the other five, on the opposite side of the memorial, are Ypres 1915, Festubert, Mt. Sorrel, Somme 1916, and Vimy). The ten Second War honours (nine in Italy, plus Apeldoorn) are on the side opposite the sword. The badge at the bottom is that of the 92nd Bn CEF, which reinforced the 15th Bn CEF after it was decimated in the gas attack at Second Ypres. Had the honour of knowing a few of those men.
