The biopic is just called Jack now — the dropped adjective did give it a bit of a used-car-salesman vibe — but for viewers planning to watch it with arms crossed and brows furrowed, ready to harrumph mightily at a positive portrayal of its central character, the good news is they won’t have to wait long to be satisfied. Before the title screen appears, Jack is seen jogging briskly through his Toronto neighbourhood, waving good cheer to the shopkeepers who call his name in salute. “Rise Up,” by the Parachute Club, provides the soundtrack. If none of this strikes you as a bit over the top, then there’s good news for you, too. Jack does indeed provide a relentlessly sunny portrait of the man.
I'll give you a moment to vent.
