At taxpayer's expense:
Prof. Erik O. Wright is a leading Marxist on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Madison. A professor of sociology, Wright has dedicated himself and his work – including the four classes he teaches – to his version of the Wisconsin Idea: promoting Marxism and the eradication of capitalism.
According to his biographical entry on the American Sociological Association website, Wright is the intellectual force behind the radically left-wing Havens Center at the University of Wisconsin. “For 28 years he has headed the Havens Center at the University of Wisconsin,” the entry reads. The MacIver Institute has previously documented the Havens Center’s efforts to promote political action and facilitate the political organization of labor unions and far-left groups in Wisconsin.
This individual sounds like many who reside safely within the tenured professoriate. It almost makes one yearn for Mao's (Marxist-Leninist) cultural revolution when the professoriate was forcibly (Marxists really have no right to complain about state coercion) sent to toil in primitive agricultural labour camps where most perished. Privatized education might accomplish the same thing except that the good professor and comrades might have to get used to living on minimum wages in the service sector.
